Lets take a trip to yesteryear - 1978 POSTED 8/24/2024
A few months back, I received an email that stated "While I was a landscape architecture student at Purdue University I lived in Whitestown where I did a photographic inventory of all the homes in 1977. I now live in Maine and would like to donate the documents to a permanent archive in Boone Co. Would you like to have them?"
I couldn't believe my good fortune and immediately responded in the affirmative, that I would love to have this set of photos along with permission to share them and give credit to the photographer.
If you're doing the math, these photos were taken 47 years ago.
Are you asking yourself why anyone would take all these photos?
Well, you see, Pollyanne completed an urban conservation study of Whitestown in the spring of 1978. She titled her study "Whitestown, A bit of yesteryear", and these photos were used for her report.
I have now received this historical set of photos, the negatives, and an original copy of the report which is complete with white-out corrections and hand-drawn graphics.
I give all credit to Pollyanne Melton (Erdman) for taking and preserving them for all these years.
So, if you are ready to step back into yesteryear 1978 Whitestown..........
