I would like to thank Sharon Walker for allowing me to have access to a large collection of Whitestown High School photos and memorabilia that have been preserved and passed down among the school ulumni, who still gather together once a year.
Some of the items on this page are from my own small collection, but many of the photos on this page are compliments of the WHS alumni and shared with me by Sharon.

Whitestown Grade School

Prior, There were 8 small schools noted in the area of Worth Township in 1878
The High School was added in 1915, and the gym was completed in 1941
The last class graduated from Whitestown in 1963
Whitestown was consolidated with Lebanon
Whitestown school permanently closed in 1965
Perry-Worth School opened in 1966
The remains of the High school buildings are now home to Moontown Brewing.

Community and prepared for the Whitestown Community Center.  Author: Janice West

Whitestown High School closed in 1963 when the Whitestown school district merged with the neighboring Lebanon's school district in an apparent state legislature-mandated consolidation. This consolidation meant that there was no longer a standalone Whitestown High School; instead, students in Whitestown attend either Zionsville Community High School or Lebanon High School, depending upon which township they reside. Those living in the Worth & Perry Township areas now go to Lebanon and those in the Eagle Township area go to Zionsville.

The physical structure of the old Whitestown High School has been repurposed over the years, and is currently home to the Moontown Brewing Company, which opened in 2017 after extensive renovations. Pieces of memorabilia and old school trophies are on loan to Moontown, and displayed in the business.

The closure of WHS marked a significant change in the community's educational landscape, but the town has continued to evolve, with its educational facilities now part of broader, well-regarded school systems in the area.

The closure of Whitestown High School marked a significant event for the community. The school had been a central part of the town for decades, and its loss brought about a mix of emotions among the residents: The closing of the local high school would have represented a significant loss of community identity, as schools often serve as focal points for community activities and pride. The closure would have surely left many feeling a sense of loss for the traditions and gatherings that were once centered around the school.
